A Quick History of the Warrior Hotel
Originally opened in 1930 on the site of the former 1891 Corn Palace, The Warrior Hotel was built during the height of the Art Deco era- and you can see those influences everywhere. Think geometric patterns, gilded accents, marble, and bold architectural details.
Finally opening in 1937, the opulence and hospitality quickly became the talk of Sioux Falls. In the 1950’s it transitioned into the Seraton Warrior and continued to host dignitaries, celebrities, and esteemed guests from different walks of life.
After decades of operation, the hotel closed in the 1970s and, thankfully, was not bulldozed, as many Midwest buildings were at the time. Instead, it underwent a stunning, multi-year restoration and reopened in 2020 as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.
Everywhere you look, the care taken in the restoration is obvious: restored terrazzo floors, preserved design motifs, beautiful rebuilt light fixtures, and nods to the hotel’s original glamor. It feels historic but not outdated.

Our Hotel Suite at The Warrior Hotel

With our Bonvoy Platinum Status, we often get room upgrades, but this upgrade at The Warrior Hotel was one of our top favorites.
Beautiful was an understatement. When we opened the door to our hotel suite, the red velvet couch that greeted us set the tone. We dropped our bags and quickly noticed a longish hallway with windows to the left and a stunning, marble bathroom (with bidet) to the right. More on the bathroom later.
We had a nice closet in the hallway and then entered the spacious bedroom with a couch and a very comfortable bed.
A door opened to our rooftop patio, where we enjoyed watching the city life move below us.
Hotel Suite Bathroom

The bathroom mirror lights up upon entering, and we then noticed a built-in television. We especially loved the spacious bathroom counter to put our toiletries.
Our bathroom had a bidet, which was totally unexpected.
Even more unexpected was the glass door to the shower with a separate bathtub at the other end. Honestly, 20 people probably could have stood in the enormous bathroom alone.

The Rooftop Patio for our Suite

Some of the rooms have patios, and we were lucky enough to get one of the patio suites. We had such amazing views of the architecture from our patio. It was so fun to sit and watch people go about their night from the comfort of our patio chairs.
Other Room Details to Expect at The Warrior Hotel
- High ceilings that make the floor appear even larger.
- Tasteful art-deco inspired details.
- Quality amenities you expect from an Autograph Collection, like USB ports built into the nightstands and The Nest toiletries in the bathroom. The Sicilian Tangerine smell was perfection.
- Plush bedding and really comfortable beds- be prepared for a wonderful night of sleep.
- We especially loved a modern and hi-tech thermostat with lots of cooling options. We immediately lowered the temperature upon arrival.
Dining at the Warrior

Main + Abby, on-site restaurant is open to the public and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As platinum members, our breakfast was complimentary and much like other Marriott hotel lounge breakfasts. You’ll pass the hotel bar from the lobby on your way to Main + Abby, and it’s another place to grab a cocktail inside The Warrior Hotel
The Crown Rooftop Bar- Skyline Views and a Sunset

As if the hotel isn’t cool enough, you can also enjoy a cocktail at one of the coolest spots in Sioux City, The Crown Rooftop Bar. Perched atop the hotel, this sleek and sophisticated rooftop lounge offers unparalleled views of downtown Sioux City, and we were rewarded with an amazing sunset on the night of our visit.
Enjoy your cocktail indoors or outdoors. They also offer light bites to accompany your drink.
You don’t need to be a hotel guest to enjoy the Crown Rooftop Bar- it is open to the public!
