Great BBQ lunch- Mr. Pig Stuff- Shakopee, MN
After a day of shopping we decided it was time for lunch and we wanted to find a place on our way home. Trip Advisor let us to Mr. Pig Stuff in Shakopee and we’re glad we found this gem! Trip Advisor had some raving reviews and this place was ranked #4 so we figured it was a pretty obvious choice to make. The minute we walked in, the sweet smell of BBQ permeated the air and if it tasted half as good as it smelled, we knew we were in for a treat!
We were pleased with the menu prices and choices for lunch.
Warning: If you plan to eat BBQ at Mr. Pig Stuff go hungry because the portions are huge!
I decided to have the 2-Meat Plate while Dusty settled on the 4-Meat Plate. It came out on two plates. Holy Smokes- it was so much food and it was so good.
First up, the 2 meat plate: a choice of two meats, 1/4 lb each and two sides. I ordered pulled pork and brisket, sweet potato fries and baked beans. Both meat choices were very good and were not too dry or salty- just a nice, deep smokey flavor. I was a little nervous when I saw the BBQ all over the brisket because you don’t always know if you’ll care for the flavor. Luckily, I was not disappointed, as it had a nice smokey flavor and was neither too sweet or too tangy.
The baked beans were just OK. They looked homemade but the flavoring was just off a bit for me. The sweet potato fries were good and sprinkled with brown sugar. Our lunches were also served with a cornbread muffin and a side of cinnamon butter.
Dusty ordered the 4 meat plate. This is a choice of 4 meats, each 1/4 lb and two sides. He chose Andouille sausage, pulled pork, BBQ brisket and the Slop Bucket which is chopped pork, sausage, and brisket. For his sides, he ordered cheesy au grautins and home cut french fries. Both of our lunch choices were very good-the home cut fries were just perfect in that they weren’t too mushy, which can sometimes happen with home cut fries.
Can we talk about these au gratin potatoes? This looks like a work of art and they tasted just as good as they look!
Needless to say, this was much more food than we expected to get at lunchtime so it was a pleasant surprise for each of us to take home over half of our lunch. We each had at least another 2 meals from our leftovers.
Our waitress was very personable and efficient. Overall, we loved our lunch here and would stop again sometime to try their dinner menu. According to their website, they have happy hour specials and there is a picture of a bloody mary garnished with bacon that we’d like to try.
