If you’re planning a weekend trip, here are some great stops that we recommend adding to your own list. Paired with free local museums and attractions, you’ll have a great time in Sioux City.
Local Coffee Shops in Sioux City, Iowa
Sioux City has a strong coffee scene, especially downtown, where several locally owned shops are within easy walking distance. We had time to hit some of the options.
Hardline Coffee

We ended our trip at this delightful coffee shop. It was inviting and even had a small selection of clothing items that could be thrifted. Surrounded by plants and comfy seating, this could easily be a regular haunt for us if we lived near Sioux City.
We loved that they make their syrups in-house and offer oat and almond milks. They even had vegan baked goods for sale! The coffee menu was super creative and felt unique.
Why stop here? We loved the unique drinks and the eclectic vibe with lots of plants and comfy couches. The downtown location is nice too.
Council Oak Supply

This space is beautiful, and we definitely loved the exposed iron foundation, brick walls, and hardwood floors.
Lots of coffee drinks to choose from, but bring your reading glasses to read the menu at the registers, LOL.
Council Oak Supply also offers wholesale coffee supplies, so if you’re dreaming of stepping up your coffee equipment at home (or your business), you can check out a small sales floor of products.
Why stop here? The interior is really inviting, with beams, brick, wood floors, and plenty of light. Open but not too loud.
Pierce Street Coffee Works

Pierce Street Coffee Works very much felt like a Sioux City staple. The line was long at lunchtime, and you can get coffee drinks as well as cold drinks. We ordered a lavender lemonade that was pretty decent.
Why Stop Here? They have a large coffee and beverage menu. You can also grab a light lunch, and it’s in a neat neighborhood.
We definitely recommend refueling with a coffee between visits to local museums in Sioux City, IA.
Craft Beer in Sioux City
You could make a brewery weekend in Sioux City, but on this two-day trip, we only had time for one brewery stop.
Marto Brewing

Marto Brewing was our only brewery stop in Sioux City, and we definitely loved the vibe. It had a great downtown location, too.
They have a kitchen and offer a full menu- you could smell BBQ the minute you walk in. There were no vegan options, so we did not eat here. A few appetizers could be modified, but there were other restaurants with vegan options we wanted to try, so this was a great pit stop to knock a brewery off our list.
Why stop here? It’s a local brewery, need we say more? This taproom serves food and beer and has a great patio with an excellent downtown location.
Bars in Sioux City
We prefer local breweries, so we don’t really hit bars when we visit new cities unless there’s a unique reason. Here are two fantastic places to grab a drink in Sioux City, IA.
1854 Grille

1854 Grille is attached to the DoubleTree by Hilton Sioux City, which is where we spent one of the two nights, so we had to stop in!
We ended up talking with the manager who was visiting and found out that 1854 Grille is locally owned.
They have a nice elevated dinner menu (no vegan options). Great atmosphere, and from the parking lot, it looks quite popular.
We had a great bartender who was a great conversationalist.
Why stop here? Great location near local attractions. They have a big dinner menu (no vegan options) and a very nice atmosphere. If you’re staying at the DoubleTree, it’s an extra reason tostop in for a nightcap!
The Crown Rooftop Bar

For drinks with a view, The Crown Rooftop Bar is a must! Located above downtown, this is an ideal spot for a drink, especially if you want something a little special. Even though we stayed at The Warrior Hotel, you don’t have to be a guest to enjoy this rooftop bar. It’s open to the public.
Why stop here? The views and downtown location make this an absolute must if you visit Sioux City!
We spent a fantastic night at The Warrior Hotel, Autograph Collection, where we had an amazing suite upgrade. Trust us, you’ll want to stay at The Warrior Hotel!
Planning a 2-Day Drink-Focused Sioux City Itinerary
We spent two nights in Sioux City. Here’s an example of how you could fit multiple stops into your itinerary:
Morning– coffee at Hardline Coffee or Pierce Street Coffee Works
Late morning or afternoon: Council Oak Supply during downtown exploring
Late afternoon: pint of beet at Marto Brewing
Evening: enjoy a rooftop cocktail at The Crown Rooftop Bar or a before-dinner drink at 1854 Grille
