Tapped & Uncorked Event Attracts MN Craft Beer & Spirits Lovers

We had a brewery weekend planned with Kelly’s sister and her husband, Jason. It so happened an event called Tapped & Uncorked took place the same weekend. It was the perfect way to be able to check off more breweries that we wouldn’t have time to see in person.

Tapped & Uncorked was held at Guidant John Rose MN OVAL on County Road C just east of Lexington Avenue and is presented by Friends of Roseville’s Parks . Also known as a craft-beer lovers haven.

Perhaps even better than sampling beer from 22 local craft brewers is that the event serves a great cause. 100% of the profit raised goes to help preserve and upkeep Roseville’s Park system.  Past events have helped raise over $46,000! That’s pretty impressive.

$35 gains you entrance to the event, a 5 oz souvenir tasting glass and unlimited samples from 22 local craft brewers, 3 cideries and 7 wineries! We also received a cute little notebook to make any notes on the samples. There were also 4 food trucks and 3 restaurants if you wanted to grab a bite to eat.

Probably our favorite thing about the event is the access to the samples. We never had to stand in line for more than a few minutes, and sometimes not even that. In most instances, we were able to walk right up and request a sample. With 39 food and beverage vendors present, it really helped spread out the crowd!

After a few tastings, we went looking for some food. We knew it would be a challenge to find something WFPB compliant. We did find some tater tots from the Tot Boss Food Truck and did not even try to resist the deep-fried goodness! Of course, they were delish.

As the evening progressed, we ended up finding a table to stand around and enjoy the music. We were positioned both near the beer vendors and the live music. It was fun to hear a college favorite, GB Leighton, play again. A college friend of Stacy’s and her husband ended up joining us. The Pour For Parks event is a fall-favorite of theirs and something they never miss.

It’d be hard to pick a favorite beer at an event where we tasted so many. A favorite that stood out was a Wild Rice Porter by Inbound Brew Co.

One cool story was meeting the new owner of Yoerg Brewery.  Yoerg Brewery has an interesting history,  as it was started by a Bavarian in a cave that was under the founders home in St. Paul. While we were getting samples we overheard a story between the owner and an older gentleman who remembers his father drinking Yoerg beer.

Plan to attend Tapped & Uncorked

A beer-tasting event with 30 vendors is not small, yet the event was quaint. What we loved most about it was the accessibility of all the vendors. We never waited in line for more than a minute or two.

There were little glass-washing stations set up every couple of vendors so you could rinse your glass in between tastings.

It was a very friendly event. Wearing a New Glarus sweatshirt at a MN beer event may seem like a risky move but it was definitely a conversation starter! We talked with lots of locals because of the sweatshirt and met many nice people who come to the event every year.

A Fun Night of Beer Tasting

It was obvious that this is a popular event. It was very well run- volunteers were readily available. The mood was fun and light. All the vendors were happy to be there and happy to pour their beers for people to taste. It was a great event.  We highly recommend adding this event to your schedule!

We received complimentary tickets. As always, all opinions are our own.
