Breakfast at Patisserie 46 in Minneapolis

Patisserie 46

Patisserie 46 in Minneapolis has been highly recommended to us and has been on our list to visit and we finally made time to see what it’s all about. Our friends were right- this place is just fantastic. It’s early spring yet but this would be a great little spot to stop in the summer and enjoy a treat in the sunshine and to leisurely sip on a Latte or Cappuccino some afternoon.

After our breakfast choices, it’s plainly obvious why John Kraus from Patisserie 46 was nominated for the 2016 Outstanding Baker Award from the James Beard Foundation Award.

We took several laps up and down trying to decide what order, knowing that it would be pretty impossible to make a bad decision.

Finally, we decided that we’d share one of the daily specials which was Quiche Lorraine,  smoked gruyere cheese, applewood smoked bacon and onions with some greens on the side in a light vinaigrette. It was incredible!! Dusty actually, pretty loudly, said “this is so good” and the gal sitting next to us appreciated our honest reaction to it by laughing and agreeing with us. Light and delicate and melt-in-your-mouth kind of good!

We also chose a spinach & feta croissant- super light and airy with subtle, savory  flavors.

And last but not least we also enjoyed a pecan cinnamon pull apart. So good. I think what was most surprising to me about this is I expected something gooey and sticky. It wasn’t at all but it was so flavorful and very pretty to look at. It looked so much like a piece of art that it took a few minutes for us to actually pull it apart and start eating it.

We are fully aware that any of these choices could easily have served as a meal in itself but we couldn’t help ourselves from trying to experience as many options as possible!

We also decided to take a loaf of Olive Sourdough home with us. We broke it open as soon as we got home. It was so good. We hope to make this last a few days. It would make a wonderful sandwich bread.

As if this wasn’t obvious, we’re already excited for our next trip back when we get to try some of the other options.

We'd love to hear from you!
